Aimed at those who require assistance understanding how their thinking skills affects their efforts to move into work, Focusing On:
 
  • Black & White Thinking – seeing everything in extremes, no middle ground
  • Mental Filtering – only seeing negative aspects, only seeing what is wrong
  • Over Generalization – believing results of a situation will predict all future results
  • Jumping to conclusions – predicting the outcome or future based on beliefs
  • Emotional reasoning – believing something must be true, based on beliefs
  • Personalizing – blaming yourself for situations outside your control
  • Magnification or Minimisation – most often related to own qualities and needs

The programme is designed to be flexible and personalised, suitable for those with anxieties about making changes in their lives and those who have barriers in accessing formal personal development support.
 
The programme is for 2 days per week for 5 weeks : 10am – 2pm
Making Sense of Your Money
 
Aimed at those who require assistance in making sense of their money – benefits, salary and budgeting – to help them prepare to move into work.
 
Focusing On:
  • Making sense of personal budgets when moving into work
  • Exploring and addressing the possible effect of the Benefits Cap
  • How to compile a Pros and Cons list when moving into work
  • Understanding In Work benefits
  • Increasing budgeting skills
  • Access to organisations available to help with saving money
  • Increasing awareness of financial scams
  • Increasing understanding of legal rights relating to personal finance
  • Use of ICT tools for budgeting
  • Better off calculations when moving into work
 
Sessions to include:
 
  • How Universal Credit works for variable hours contracts
  • Reducing reliance on Housing Benefit
  • Financial impacts related to self employment

In addition, there will be opportunities daily to assist with:
 
  • Job Search and making applications
  • Interview Skills
  • Developing an effective CV

Making Sense of Your Money is aimed at those who need additional support in making sense of how they will manage financially when moving into work.

The programme is designed to be flexible, personalised and inclusive, suitable for those with anxieties about making changes in their lives and those who have confidence barriers to accessing formal budgeting support.
 
The programme is for 2 days per week for 5 weeks : 10am – 3pm
